In 1945, Haakon Gertsen founded what would later become Gertsen & Olufsen, starting as a trading house in the early post-war years. Eight decades later, we proudly mark our 80th anniversary – a journey defined by engineering excellence, close customer partnerships, and a continued commitment to innovative maritime solutions.

Over the years, Gertsen & Olufsen has transformed into a global production company, delivering advanced technologies that improve the safety, performance, and sustainability of vessels worldwide. Our two brands G&O Compensators and G&O Bioreactors, are trusted by leading shipowners and shipyards internationally.

Among the many milestones in our history are the development of bacteria-based water treatment systems and groundbreaking work in vibration compensation technology. These innovations reflect our ongoing mission to lead with purpose and deliver value through smart, reliable solutions.
