G&O Maritime Group’s global expansion and green vision
At G&O Maritime Group, we’re embarking on an exciting new chapter. After years of steady growth and success, we’re ready to take our expertise and innovative solutions to the global stage like never before. Our mission is to become an indispensable player in the global maritime industry, especially as it navigates the green transition and digitalization.
Rich history in maritime solutions
The following is a recap of this article published by Søfart. You may already be familiar with some of our flagship products—Pres-Vac valves, Hans Jensen Lubricators, Gertsen & Olufsen compensators, and Atlas Incinerators, to name a few. These products are known and trusted by maritime professionals worldwide for propulsion, tank management, and waste handling on ships. While these brands have become household names in the industry, they are all part of a larger family: G&O Maritime Group.
Founded in 2014, G&O Maritime Group was born from the well-established Gertsen & Olufsen, which has a rich history in maritime solutions. Over the years, we’ve strategically acquired and integrated several other niche maritime brands, expanding our expertise and product range. Today, we’re proud to offer a portfolio of six distinct, globally recognized products which are crucial for the safe and efficient operation of ships.
A new direction under new leadership
Our journey took a significant turn in 2021 when the investment fund Polaris acquired G&O Maritime Group. With this new ownership came a renewed focus on sustainability and innovation. At the helm of this transformation is our CEO, Anders Egehus, who joined us in October 2022. Anders Egehus brings a wealth of experience from his previous roles at Maersk and Svitzer, where he specialized in acquisitions, mergers, and corporate integration.
Under Anders Egehus’ leadership, we’ve embraced a bold new vision: to be a key supplier in the maritime industry’s green transition. We’re committed to developing and delivering products that not only meet the current demands of the industry but also anticipate future needs, particularly in relation to environmental sustainability and digital innovation.
Our new headquarters allows for innovation
Our move to new headquarters in Lyngby, just across from the Technical University of Denmark (DTU), symbolizes our commitment to growth and innovation. This strategic location allows us to collaborate closely with some of the brightest minds in engineering and technology. We’re already seeing the benefits of this proximity, having hosted several DTU master’s projects in our new office.
We understand that our future growth hinges on our ability to attract and retain top talent. By fostering a dynamic and open workplace, we’re ensuring that G&O Maritime Group remains at the forefront of maritime innovation.
Challenges and opportunities
While we’re excited about our future, we’re also mindful of the challenges that lie ahead. Our recent financial results for 2023 were not what we hoped for, but they reflect the significant investments we’ve made in expanding our team and enhancing our global sales organization. We’re confident that these investments will pay off as we strengthen our relationships with customers and broaden our reach.
Looking towards a greener future
As we expand globally, we remain deeply committed to sustainability. Our development team is working on solutions that address the pressing environmental challenges facing the maritime industry, from reducing CO2 emissions to eliminating harmful substances like PFAS.
In the coming years, you can expect to see G&O Maritime Group continue to grow, innovate, and lead the way in sustainable maritime solutions. We’re not just expanding our business—we’re expanding our impact on the world.
